Generally when I detail a car or work for somebody I give them one or two business cards afterwards. I do this in the hopes that if they like my work they will pass on my information to their friends. I have detailed for a client in my neighborhood several times since last summer, and I have given them a few of my cards. They said they would pass them on, which I appreciated. I will come back to this later.

About a week ago I was fly fishing at a pond close by, which also happens to be on a golf course. I was busy not catching any fish when a man came up while about to tee off and asked what fly I was using. I told him, and he recommended a better option. We introduced ourselves, he went on golfing and I went on not catching any fish.
Fast forward to yesterday, I was on a run once again along the golf course, and I ran into this guy a second time. It came up in conversation that I detail cars, he then realized that he had received my card from my other clients who I previously mentioned. This was before we even met the first time.
This kind of occurrence makes me wonder about the odds of events happening in our lives, the importance of being in the right place at the right time, and also not catching any fish.
